CALLING ALL ARTISTS! We are very excited to announce that the submission period of our Request for Proposal (RFP) for a mural at Ensen Community Park in Salinas is officially open! We are looking for an artist who can bring an amazing mural to life using the following inspiration: This mural could be inspired by the following (not limited to): the local multicultural community, local Indigenous tribes, native flora and fauna, healthy ecosystems, restored wetlands, public access to open space, the history of Salinas, the agricultural history of Carr Lake (Japanese American farmers), family and community gathering, health, wellbeing, urban greening, rewilding, climate resilience, and more. The dimensions are approximately 270’ x 5’ or 1,350 square feet. There is a $35,000 all-inclusive budget for this project which will be awarded to the selected artist! The artist will retain ownership of any ideas submitted for consideration until a final selection has been made, and a contract will be signed between BSLT and the selected artist. The selected artist will be chosen by a diverse panel, including representatives from @cityofsalinas, @centerforcommunityadvocacy, and @bigsurlandtrust.
