Join Indivisible Santa Maria for a National Day of Action: “Communities Not Cages”, Pop Up Protest! On April 25th, at the corner of McCoy and Broadway from 1-2:30 pm, we will join a coordinated, nationwide mobilization against the Trump administration's reckless expansion of ICE warehouse detention centers. DHS is actively scouting, purchasing, and planning to convert 23 warehouses nationwide into new detention and processing facilities. In California alone, we have 7 privately owned detention centers, and 1 is currently under construction in Northern California. This would massively expand their detention capacity, make it even more difficult to expose the inhumane conditions immigrants face in ICE custody, and increase the likelihood of abuse and death. We need to band together, NOW!
