Community Vigil Against Racial Profiling
On September 8, the Supreme Court allowed the Trump Administration to continue its racist attacks against Latino workers in Los Angeles and nationwide. Masked ICE officers are still harassing, interrogating, and abducting people at workplaces based on how they look, speak, or the jobs they do. While this ruling is a serious setback, the fight isn’t over: the case challenging these abuses will continue in federal court, with the next hearing on September 24.
The stakes are high. This decision gives a green light to lawless, racialized violence, terrorizing immigrant workers, their families, and anyone who “fits the description.” It threatens to expand to other communities across the country if left unchecked.
We believe no one should be targeted for who they are, what they look like, or the work they do. We value the Constitution, immigrants, and workers whose labor sustains our communities and economy. We must act now to defend the Fourth Amendment and the rights of all people.
This September 18, we are hosting a vigil to bring public awareness about this decision and to demand that rights of immigrant workers—and the rights of everyone—to live without fear of arbitrary, racialized enforcement are protected.
