On Jan 3, the US government launched an illegal act of war—bombing Caracas and kidnapping President Maduro and First Lady Flores. This is a violent coup designed to plunder Venezuela’s oil and assert imperial control over Latin America. The same forces destabilizing Venezuela are also terrorizing our own communities. WE SAY THEIR NAMES: Renee Nicole Good: On Jan 7, ICE murdered Renee, a 37-year-old woman, while she was protesting in her vehicle in Minneapolis—less than a mile from where George Floyd was killed. Keith Porter: On New Year's Eve, off-duty ICE agents in Northridge, CA, murdered Keith, a Black man, claiming "enforcement authority" to justify lethal force. From Caracas to Minneapolis to Northridge, this is racialized state violence. We WILL NOT BE SILENT as the government murders and steals in our name. We demand: Immediate passage of the War Powers Resolution. The release of President Maduro and First Lady Flores. An end to the sanctions starving Venezuelan families.
