De-ICE Citizens Bank - Communities Not Cages

Progressive Schenectady

Citizens Bank continues to be a major lender – the only major lender – to the country’s two largest private prison companies, CoreCivic and The GEO Group, running dozens of ICE immigration detention centers across the country. Through loans, bond underwriting and credit lines, the bank has played a key role in helping CoreCivic and The GEO Group access more than $2.5 billion in financing over the past dozen years, some of it approved this year. Citizens says it is dedicated to fostering strong communities and social responsibility, but its long-standing support to prison companies and ICE detention centers is exactly the opposite. We need to hold the bank accountable. The Greater Capital Region Coalition has organized protests at Citizens Bank branches in Albany County, Rensselaer County, and Schenectady County. Join fellow PS-ers at the Citizens Bank in Schenectady, at 1725 Altamont Avenue. Bring your signs! Bring your friends! Other Coalition Group locations include: Colonie, Northway Mall, 1440 Central Ave (CI) Delmar, Hannaford Plaza, 164 Delaware Ave (BI) Guilderland, opposite Stuyvesant Plaza 1516 Western Ave (GI and HI) East Greenbush, 596 Columbia Turnpike (TI) Latham, opposite Latham Farms, 882 New Loudon Rd (IA) Loudonville, near D’Raymonds, 265 Osborne Rd (BMVH) Pine Hills, Albany, 501 Western Ave (WeGOTR) This is a local Indivisible event. A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
