Show Up / Speak Out: Protest With a Purpose A shutdown and soaring costs 🚁 On Monday, October 6th, we’re switching up our usual plans to meet this critical moment. We’ll be starting at Courthouse Square (at the corner of Washington Ave. & Spruce St.) with a few speakers to highlight the impact of not making a deal on healthcare on Pennsylvania families. THE PLAN Meet at Courthouse Square in Scranton at 2pm. Hear some local storytellers talk about how soaring costs are impacting their families while Rob Bresnahan keeps flying high. March past Bresnahan’s Office on Washington Ave and make some noise - we need them to know we’re not backing down til we get affordable care! March over to Dave McCormick’s Office on Lackawanna Ave for a community speak out to keep the momentum going! We'll close out with ways to take action and make your voice heard. Republicans have shut down the government because they’re unwilling to give people the healthcare they need and deserve. They’re prioritizing enormous tax cuts in place for billionaires, all while our healthcare premiums go sky high. Let's demand they prioritize NEPA families in this federal budget - including permanently extending the enhanced health care tax credits that help NEPA families afford quality care. What you need to know: Bring signs! Signs focused on healthcare and the ACA will be perfect! Invite your friends! Let's get as many folks there as possible! We're there to stand up for each other and for healthcare for our families and neighbors. We keep our events fun, positive, and safe for all attendees. If there are any detractors there, please don't give them any of your energy and defer to Action Together NEPA staff to keep everyone safe. That’s why we’re launching Show Up / Speak Out, a weekly campaign to deliver letters and petitions, share our stories, stand up for our communities, and demand action from our legislators. 📣 If we can’t get in the door, we’ll make our voices heard outside. ✊ Whether constituents get a visit or it’s strictly a protest with a purpose, we’ll be there — every week. 🗓️ Every Monday at 2pm – Outside Senator Dave McCormick’s Scranton office (417 Lackawanna Ave, Scranton, PA 18503.) 🏢 We’re gathering outside McCormick’s office, and we’ll take field trips over to Bresnahan’s office. Because guess what? Bresnahan’s office is conveniently located just around the corner! This is what democracy looks like—NEPA style.
