SHELTON, WA-HONOR THOSE WHO GIVE THEIR ALL

This is a family-friendly local event! Join with a coalition of organizations defending democracy and honoring emergency services personnel, especially those who came to our rescue on 9/11: the 35th Legislative District Democrats, Mason County Democrats, Concerned Citizens of Mason County Indivisible, Independent Americans Opposed to Dictatorship, Dems in the Hood (and other Progressives), Union Indivisible, and many individuals across our county, state and nation to "Honor Those Who Give their All". March in Shelton to honor EMT/1st responders, firefighters, veterans, rural medical staff, local sheriff/police forces and other emergency services personnel who put their lives on the line for you and me, every day, and whose budgets are being impacted by the Trump regime’s DOGE cuts to federal programs, and personnel, that support our local communities. DOGE cuts earlier this year, for instance, pushed out around 1600 Forest Service career professionals, and they are now scrambling to recruit those personnel back into service while peak wildfire season is literally on top of us. So, let’s join together to celebrate these professionals and especially those who came to our rescue on 9/11. Let them know we respect their training, sacrifice and service to our communities and model for the younger generation what honoring our heroes looks like in a democracy. March in Shelton from Kneeland Park to Brewer Park (about 1/2mile). Those marching are asked to, if possible, wear black clothing and have white signs with black lettering for stark impactful contrast as we march. (Alternatively red/white/blue clothing would be great too!) Due to the sensitivity of this day in history, we suggest that signs either start with “Honor the Heroes by….”, or end with “.....Lest We Forget”. If you have mobility issues, or marching isn’t for you, come to Kneeland Park and give a rousing send off to the marchers, or, set up at the end of the march in Brewer Park and welcome the marchers in. Driving along the march route, up First Street, and supporting the marchers with your horns honking is also a great way to spread your enthusiasm, support our heroes, and cheer on the marchers! Join with a coalition of resisters, the 35th Legislative District Democrats, Mason County Democrats, Concerned Citizens of Mason County Indivisible, Independent Americans Opposed to Dictatorship, Dems in the Hood (and other Progressives), Union Indivisible, and many others across our county, state and nation to “Honor Those Who Give Their All”. A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
