So-called 'Portsmouth Patriots' and a splinter group 'Together We Rise And Protect' (TWRAP) will be shouting lies, threats and obscenities outside temporary accommodation for asylum seekers on Friday and Saturday.
The newly formed TWRAP hid behind balloons and purple hoodies last Saturday, but were nasty, aggressive and threatening to the hotel staff, passers-by and anyone they didn't like the look of. They may have split from 'Portsmouth Patriots', but they are cut from the same fascist cloth.
For your safety, it's advisable not to have any visible badges or banners on your way to the demo, and don't engage with any far right if you see them.
These are peaceful counter-protests called by Stand Up To Racism Portsmouth, to show friendship and solidarity with refugees, to show show support for victims of racist attacks, and to show that the far right and fascists are not welcome.
We strongly oppose those choosing to 'protest' outside the home of some of the most vulnerable people in society, who have no voice and no power. This is not protest, it's bullying and intimidation.
We welcome anyone who wants to stand with us peacefully in solidarity with refugees. We will have stewards whose priority will be people's safety and de-escalating any confrontations.
