We Support Survivors - Thank you Mujeres in Action

Indivisible

We are heading to MIA (Mujeres in Action) to show them some love, support and gratitude. They are WONDERFUL! MIA advocates for survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault, helping them reach their full potential, and educating our community from a Latine perspective to eliminate family violence. Their services are free and confidential regardless of immigration status. MiA began in 2018 when founder and executive director Hanncel Sanchez realized there was a gap in culturally responsive services for Spanish-speaking survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault. In late September 2018, MiA officially launched into the community and has since been providing life-saving and culturally responsive services and resources to Latine survivors and their families, as well as community outreach for prevention of domestic violence. 3:00 - 4:00 we will meet with MIA for a tour and information about their programs. We will also bring them thank you cards, treats and snacks. If you'd like to bring some (non-homemade) snacks that would be great! 4:00 - 5:00 we will rally in support of Survivors. Exact location TBD. It will be within walking distance of MIA. Hang out afterwards also TBD. MIA has said they could really use some sheets for women they are helping with housing. So... we are doing a Sheet Drive - Queen, twin or full NEW sheets please. We are also collecting Bath Towels. Let's help these women make their new homes nice and cozy. As always we follow the PJALS principles of nonviolence https://pjals.org/action/#nonviolence A core principle behind all events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
