Indivisible St. Johns County

1/24/26 Pop Up Protest at the Bridge of Lions Downtown - Stand for Human Rights

Join us for a peaceful, nonviolent pop-up visibility action in St. Augustine to stand against ICE abuses and authoritarianism, and in support of human rights and the rule of law. When: Saturday, Jan 24 • 3:00–4:30 PM Where: Bridge of Lions (meet at the bridge — look for the group with signs) Plan & Safety Guidelines (please read): Peaceful + nonviolent event. We’re here to be visible and be heard—no intimidation, no confrontation. If there are agitators, ignore them. Do not block sidewalks, driveways, or traffic. Keep pathways clear and stay aware of pedestrians/bikes. If the group grows larger than ~25, we’ll split into smaller groups nearby to stay safe and avoid crowding. Follow basic de-escalation: don’t engage with hecklers; don’t argue—wave, smile, and refocus. The peace sign is always a good counter to a rude gesture. If you feel unsafe at any time, step away and notify an organizer. Bring: Signs (keep them readable) Water Sunblock / hat Comfortable shoes A friend or two Why it matters: Strength in numbers—and visibility matters. Come stand with neighbors who believe in dignity, democracy, and accountability. RSVP requested so we can plan spacing and group splits. To the person with the bullhorn who organized the chants, THANK YOU! That was great.
