May Day Strong: Workers over Billionaires

Indivisible Poconos

Join us this May Day as we stand together with workers, families, and our community May 1st is recognized across America as a day of action – a time to come together and demand dignity, fair wages, and respect for the people who keep our communities running. Our theme is simple and powerful: Workers Over Billionaires We will gather in Stroudsburg by the entrance to the Pocono Commons shopping center (Home Depot, Dollar Tree, Target, TJ Maxx) to peacefully protest and make our voices heard. We will stay on the sidewalk along Route 611 (shopping center side) between the Hyundai dealership and the traffic light (next to the big tall Home Depot sign). Please RSVP to receive updates on the event. Let's show the Poconos that our community cares about working people! Safety guidelines: Please stay only on the sidewalks, use the designated crosswalks, stay with the group, and be mindful of traffic at all times. Bring your signs, your energy and a friend who cares about this too. Let’s show up and stand together – workers rights benefit all of society, and make our democracy stronger. And to prepare for this rally -- bring your ideas for signs and posters to our group meeting on April 19 where we will have a poster-making session and share paints, supplies and ideas. A core principle behind all our events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
