Rally to Protect our Rights (Senate Bill 1296)

Florida AFL-CIO

Join us Thursday in sending a clear message that workers in Florida need more support- not extra bureaucracy that makes it harder for us to support our families! Early next week, the Senate Committee on Fiscal Policy could hear Senate Bill 1296. This is a blatant, unconstitutional attack on your rights and freedom under the Florida and US Constitutions that could make our communities and worksite less safe, make it harder for us to live and threaten our ability to fight for our salaries and healthcare. SB 1296 is a follow-up to 2023's SB 256. SB 256 requires public sector unions to maintain 60% dues-paying membership of the workers it represents, while outlawing the decades-long practice of deducting dues from an employee's paycheck. Despite that, many public sector unions have endured. But it’s time to lift our voices- Florida workers are tired of doing more with less, tired of having our personal freedoms trampled on and tired of lawmakers not focusing in on the real solutions that we need! Join us on Thursday to make our voice heard.
