This year marks a century of honoring Black History Month. But the true authors of that history are working people who didnβt wait to be handed freedom.
Enslaved people carried out the first general strike in U.S. history, freeing themselves by joining the Union Army. Black workers, students, and organizers later dismantled Jim Crow through mass struggle, risking everything to defeat racist terror.
Today, that history is under attack. As Trump-aligned politicians target schools and institutions, and establishment leaders offer symbolism instead of strategy, the question is urgent: Who will defend the truth? Who will organize to move it forward?
The time is now to build independent, working-class power, and finish the unfinished work of freedom. βπΎ
