Indivisible
Martin Luther King Day + A Day Without Immigrants
MONDAY JANUARY 19TH - MLK DAY + A DAY WITHOUT IMMIGRANTS RALLY FROM NOON - 1:00 PM IN THE DALLES
Participants should park and meet up behind Goodwill on W 8th St by 11:45 am for some brief instructions, then we'll march onto W 6th St in front Goodwill for the rally.
As Martin Luther King Jr. Day approaches, we are reminded of Dr. King’s unwavering call to defend human dignity through non-violent action. January 19th is also a national "Day Without Immigrants" strike. Immigrants are encouraged not to go to work and everyone is encouraged not to engage in any commerce that day.
This moment demands courage and cooperation from all of us. In concert with Latinos Unidos, we will be holding a protest rally to lift up Dr. King’s message and stand in solidarity with our immigrant neighbors.
We will also be collecting Safeway and Fred Meyer gift cards (increments of $25 or $50 are most useful) to support the families who have lost a loved one to ICE enforcement.
A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
