Toms River, NJ - Rally to Defend Democracy & Support International Women's Day - Dual Event

Indivisible

This a local Indivisible event! "Defend Democracy" Let’s come together on Sunday, March 8 from 12:00 noon to 1:30pm to support the "International Women's Day" and raise our voices to the attacks on our democracy, social services, immigrants, etc. It is essential to hold Congress accountable for approving federal budgets that harm the majority of their constituents, as well as for their silence and complicity regarding the actions of the current administration. Congress, especially the GOP majority—has clear constitutional tools to check the executive branch. They are choosing not to use them. Instead, they are: • Allowing millions to lose access to healthcare • Voting to cut taxes for the wealthy while raising costs for everyone else • Allowing the militarization of our streets while shielding abusers from accountability • Enabling the current administration’s harmful and undemocratic actions through inaction Bring your signs, instruments, noisemakers, flags — whatever helps you raise your voice. Show up for the issues you care about, demand accountability, and remind our government who they work for. Remember, "People Have The Power" Activism is personal. After doing your own research, decide whether this action is right for you. Sign up now and please bring a friend! MODD - Monmouth/Ocean Democracy Defenders NOTE: This is a peaceful unity rally, please ignore any counter protesters. A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
