Community Conversation: National Security Legislation

Scarborough Loves Palestine

[REUPLOADED WITH TIME CHANGE] PLEASE NOTE THE TIME OF THIS EVENT HAS CHANGE. While we look at political developments south of the border, feeling relief for the geographical luck that placed us in Canada, we must be honest and aware of where Canada is headed (maybe in the same direction?) with its latest thread of legislation. Hidden under the veneer of "national security" and legalese, the fine print of these drafted legislations raises concerns about how surveillance is increasing and the ability to dissent is eroding. Let's talk about it on Sunday, April 19 from 11 am to 1 pm at @oldscoolgeneralstore. We're inviting the community to share their thoughts and concerns about the latest legislature. @leftiejane will kick off this community conversation with an overview of what makes these bills concerning in the current political climate. Everything is connected. Wherever your fight for social justice places you in the fabric of activism on a specific issue, let's tug that string a little stronger to unravel the forces that keep this world beneficial only for some and not for all. Organizing these community conversations takes work and resources, we are open to receive donations on the day of the event in order to make more such community conversations possible. #communityconversations #coachella #toronto #eastend #fyp
