FILM SCREENING & FUNDRAISER

East-End Acts

Join us on Sunday, May 10 (5pm) for a special Mother’s Day screening: one that calls us to unite the movement for climate justice with the struggle against the forces of imperialism, colonialism, militarism, fascism, and genocide, all in the name of defending Mother Earth. Earth’s Greatest Enemy is the second feature film by journalist Abby Martin (@fababs) — a groundbreaking work of anti-imperialist environmental filmmaking that took Abby and co-director Mike Prysner on a five-year fact-finding journey. Exempt from international climate agreements and rarely scrutinized in mainstream reporting, the Pentagon is the world’s single largest institutional polluter—spewing carbon, contaminating water, and scarring landscapes across the globe. Combining investigative journalism, striking visuals, and stories from impacted communities, this film challenges audiences to rethink the hidden costs of a global military empire and its planetary consequences. This film will change how you see both militarism and environmentalism — and the politicians who serve one while claiming to fight for the other, including Canada’s own Liberal party. This screening is our invitation to our Toronto family and east end neighbours to gather and learn how we can fight back. After the film, we will be joined by special guest speakers. There will be a bake sale offering sweet and savoury treats, as well as keffiyehs and other items. The venue offers bar service. We’ll be hosting another edition of our popular ART RAFFLE featuring the beautiful work of artist/designer/author, @michael.deforge ! Please bring one non-perishable food item to contribute to Community Fridges in the east end. Tickets are $18 ($10 for ages 12-16) and are available now. Link in bio. All proceeds from tickets and the bake sale will be donated to grassroots climate justice work by the Scarborough Environmental Association, mutual aid for families in Gaza, the Toronto Community Justice Fund, and East End Acts. If there is a financial barrier to purchasing a ticket, please email us at [email protected].
