Over 300 turned out for our first protest on February 25 to demand Sabey immediately cancel this lease, and yet Sabey ignored our demand and said they are moving forward with leasing this building to ICE, allowing hundreds of new ICE agents into our region to abduct and terrorize our neighbors. THIS WILL NOT STAND. Join us to demand Sabey immediately terminate their lease to ICE of Riverfront Technical Park, located at 2811 S 102nd St, Tukwila, and cancel the lease of the building to ICE at 12500 Tukwila International Blvd, Tukwila, across the street from Sabey HQ. PEACEFUL, NON-VIOLENT, LAWFUL CONDUCT - A core principal of Indivisible and our partner organizations is peaceful, lawful, non-violent resistance, and we will abide by this at all rallies and protests we host or co-host (peaceful does not mean quiet!). WHAT WILL WE DO: We will gather, stand, wave signs, and make noise on the limited public sidewalk in front of Sabey HQ and, if that's full, along the much longer sidewalks on the streets just south of it. We will do so with many cars passing by during rush hour to demand Sabey immediately stop leasing buildings to those kidnappings our neighbors, separating families, and terrorizing our community. COME EARLY If you want to be standing directly in front of Sabey Corporation on the limited public sidewalk on that stretch. WHAT TO BRING: Bring your voices, your feet, your bullhorns, your drums, and your eye-popping, powerful signs. Bring people to pack this and make a statement that can't be ignored - your family, friends, neighbors, and more. No worries if you don't have a sign - we'll have pre-made signs and materials for making new ones on the spot. Please do not block entrances/exits or driveways with your body or car, and be considerate to people waiting at the bus stop. PLEASE FOLLOW EVERYTHING THE BRIGHT-VESTED SAFETY TEAM INSTRUCTS. If you encounter a safety issue, immediately notify the Safety Team in the bright vests. They will decide how to handle the situation and whether to involve authorities. Unless there is an immediate risk of severe bodily injury or death, do not make this decision yourself, as doing so could increase harm. The Safety Team is trained and experienced in safety, risk mitigation and de-escalation. If at any point something doesn't feel safe or you don't feel good, feel free to immediately and calmly leave. Also, there are a series of well-known trolls that may show up to try to agitate us and record us for their small right-wing audience. If so, do not engage, keep a distance, and ignore them. These creeps thrive off negative attention hoping it will increase their views, and will often just leave if they don't get any. HOW TO GET THERE: With limited free parking that involves a walk and a hill or stairs, it is highly encouraged to take public transportation, Uber/Lyft/taxi, or carpool. BUS / TRAIN - Metro #124 is your bus as it runs all along Tukwila International Blvd. You may also take light rail to the Tukwila Light Rail Station, where you can catch a #124 heading north along Tukwila International Blvd. Plug in your trip here: https://tripplanner.kingcounty.gov/#/app/tripplanning PARKING: Free Residential Street Parking - There is parking a 12-15 minute walk to Sabey that involves a flight of stairs on one side and going briefly up a hill on the other while Tukwila International Blvd itself is fairly flat. On one side of Tukwila International Blvd (same side as Sabey), the uphill side, plug in your phone or GPS the intersection of S 130th St & 33rd Pl S and work your way to park to that area. It's a little tricky and involves driving around to get up to it from other streets. You would then walk downhill from where you parked to Tukwila International Blvd and take a short flight of stairs which ends right where a 1-800-GOT JUNK business is located, and then walk northward along Tukwila International Blvd to Sabey. On the other side of Tukwila International Blvd (same side as DHS), the downhill side, you will park on the blocks near the intersection of S 130th St & 35th Ave S, then work your way up a short hill to Tukwila International Blvd and walk northward. Be warned however that there are no sidewalks in either of those residential areas, and while parking in much of the area is fine, look around you to make sure you aren't sticking too far out in the street, you aren't blocking a driveway, aren't parking where this is a "no parking" sign, and that parking in that spot isn't likely to piss off a neighbor. Paid parking, including ADA parking, is available in the northern DHS lot. If you have a choice, for obvious reasons, try to avoid that if possible. We still wanted those with limited mobility to be aware of this option if public transportation, carpool, and Uber/Lyft/taxi is not.
