Rally for CHUH Public Schools

OH Organizing Collaborative

Overview: Join Parents United for Public Schools for a rally to call on our state and federal representatives to fully fund CHUH public schools, after which we will pack the CHUH Board of Education meeting to share the results of our parent listening sessions with the Board as they make decisions about the $5 million+ in cuts that must be made from the budget this year. Context: Districts across Ohio are facing cuts as a result of recent federal and state policies and budgets. CHUH schools alone were shortchanged by over $8 million in the state budget passed last year, forcing the district to make at least $5 million in cuts or reductions in its budget this spring. On top of this, Trump's proposed federal budget would cut public education by $8.5 BILLION. Purpose: 1) Call on our congressional representatives to stand up for our schools and oppose any federal cuts to public education 2) Call on the Ohio legislature to fully and fairly fund our public schools in next year's state budget 3) Present the results of PUPS' listening sessions with parents to the CHUH Board of Education and help ensure that parent voices are heard as they make decisions about the $5 million+ in cuts that must be made to the district's budget Itinerary: 6:15pm - Rally and press conference outside of the Board of Education 7pm - Pack the CHUH Board of Education meeting to hear the results of PUPS' parent listening sessions
