Our “Ice Melt” rally is a public protest opposing the policies and enforcement actions of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). We object to what we view as illegal and inhumane practices by its agents, the harm caused to members of our communities, and the lack of accountability. We also oppose the vast sums of money being spent to detain people, most of whom are not dangerous criminals, including children—in facilities with unacceptable living conditions. We call for an end to family separations, indiscriminate arrests, and deportations, and we advocate for immigrant rights, due process, and more humane and just immigration policies. A core principle behind all Indivisible events, including those sponsored by Wanaque 4 Democracy, is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
