BringtheBrothersHome Pack the Court for Elias
This is a rally to support Elias. you will rally peacefully outside the courthouse at 1 o’clock and then go inside to observe the proceedings which start at 2 o’clock.
Elias is a 16-year-old high school student who was living in New Orleans until May 2025, when ICE unlawfully deported him. He fled to the United States seeking protection after being abused and abandoned by his mother in Guatemala. He was granted Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) by USCIS, putting him on a pathway to lawful permanent resident status.
In May, Elias accompanied his father to what was supposed to be a routine immigration check-in where he was detained. He was refused access to his attorney and was deported against his wishes less than 24 hours later. Elias deportation was unlawful. He had no removal order and was never even put in removal proceedings.
The deportation of Elias is representative of a larger pattern of ICE detaining and deporting SIJS youth across the country. We are asking allies to join us in a show of solidarity for Elias, who cannot be present himself due to his unlawful deportation.
