Party for Socialism and Liberation - Washington DC
D.C NARCAN Training
The opioid overdose crisis remains a serious health issue in Washington, D.C., deeply connected to cycles of alienation, punishment and incarceration. It is important that we contextualize how historical injustices within the District have led to a crisis - one that predominantly affects older Black men living below the poverty line. This struggle exists as a cycle of abuse incited by the capitalist class and violently perpetuated by the so-called criminal justice system.
On Thursday, January 29 at 6PM, join the Party for Socialism and Liberation and HIPS at the Northeast Neighborhood Library at 330 7th St. NE for a learning session on the capitalist origins of the opioid crisis, followed by a training on overdose identification and response. Led by D.C. Department of Behavioral Health certified trainers, attendees will learn to recognize the signs of an opioid overdose, administer the lifesaving opioid overdose reversal medication naloxone (NARCAN), and the necessary follow-up care to ensure the safety of all involved. NARCAN kits will be provided!
