Jewish Voices for Peace -JVP - DC Metro

Handmade Pottery Fundraiser

Join us for an exhibition and sale of unique functional pottery made by Martin Karcher, a long-time member of JVP-DC Metro. The entire proceeds of the sale will be split equally between JVP-DC Metro and each of four organizations providing critical support to Palestinians at a time when they are experiencing extreme violence at the hands of the Israeli occupation, including ethnic cleansing, genocide and ecocide. Masks will be required inside the fundraiser. The organizations being supported equally by the fundraiser: * The Gaza Mental Health Foundation * Middle East Children’s Alliance * American Near East Refugee Aid * Growing Palestine * Jewish Voice for Peace - DC Metro (Most of) The pottery on display during the exhibition has been made by Martin Karcher, a long-time member of the DC Metro Chapter of Jewish Voice for Peace, who was introduced to  pottery-making over fifty years ago. He favors making functional pottery. His pieces are food-safe and can be put in a micro-wave and an un-preheated oven. Martin gets a great deal of satisfaction when finding out that people are actually using his pots. He also likes the thought that since pottery lasts for centuries, future generations may continue to enjoy at least some of his pieces.
