No Kings
NO KINGS Waterville, ME: Justice, Democracy, and the Future for our Children
Our peaceful movement is only getting bigger and stronger. “NO KINGS” is more than just a slogan—it’s the foundation our nation was built upon. Born in the streets, carried by millions in chants and on posters, it echoes from city blocks to rural town squares, uniting people across this country to fight dictatorship together.
Power belongs to the people. The future belongs to our children!
Here in Waterville, our event--"No Kings 2: Justice, Democracy, and the Future for Our Children"--will include a march (starting at the Unitarian Universalist church at 69 Silver Street) followed by a rally at Veterans Memorial Park, across from our public library (unless the weather is terrible and in that case we will arrange for an alternative rally site!). The march will begin at 10am and is just under a mile long and flat. The rally will begin at 10:45 (or whenever folks start to gather there) and end at noon.
Our collective struggle is about the future we hope to preserve for our precious young people, in the face of relentless attacks against science, books and learning, the civil and human rights of LGBTQ individuals and others, the rule of law, reproductive freedom, the planet itself! We seek instead to build and protect a peaceful, compassionate world that meets our young people's needs and also reflects their values. We are fighting for them, after all, and participants of all ages are encouraged to join us!!
In America, we don’t have kings, and we won’t back down against chaos, corruption, and cruelty. Grow our movement and join us.
A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
