May Day 2006, the “Day Without an Immigrant,” was a general strike that reshaped politics across the country.

In 2006, millions of immigrants and their allies took part in the mass movement that erupted in response to the draconian proposals of the Sensenbrenner Bill (H.R. 4437) – a bill that would have turned undocumented immigrants and even those who helped them into criminals. Instead of backing down, millions organized, marched, and showed the country the collective power of immigrant communities.
As Donald Trump and his billionaire backers expand their attacks on our communities, we can look to this history to understand our own path forward.
Join us as we study May Day 2006 and discuss how we can build towards May Day this year. We welcome all who are interested in learning and growing with the community in Lake County!
