No Tax Dollars for War!

Indivisible TriCities TN

Join us for No Tax Dollars for War as part of Peace Week: A Week of Action. On Wednesday, April 15 (Tax Day), we’ll gather from 4:00–6:00 PM at 205 Revere St. in Kingsport (outside Congresswoman Harshbarger’s office) to speak out. Our tax dollars are funding war while people across our communities are struggling with rent, student debt, healthcare, and the rising cost of living. We’re showing up to say clearly: our taxes should be invested in people, not war. This will be both a chalking event and a stationary protest. Bring your voice, your creativity, and your perspective. We’ll be writing messages for peace on public sidewalks only and holding signs to make sure we’re seen and heard. Extra signs and chalk will be available, so come as you are even if you do not have your own. Please follow all directions from organizers on site. To stay in compliance, no megaphones (we do not have a noise permit). Follow pedestrian and traffic laws at all times, and do not block intersections or driveways. A core principle behind all Indivisible Tri-Cities TN Inc. events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
