As he threatened genocide this week? As he talks about the military’s “next conquest”? As non-whites are hunted and asked for their papers on the street like n@zi Germany? There are a lot of reasons, but some big ones are a lack of understanding and belief in history repeatedly showing people power can nonviolently forcing regimes out, a lack of belief that everyday people who can’t fathom the idea of being able to afford taking part in a general strike (without a major mutual aid network being constructed first) can be part of making history, and a lack of strong community. And hoping that we can just wait it out for midterms…which is both being complicit with f@scism in the meantime and bad strategy if we look honestly at how this lawless regime makes it very clear they have every intention on trying to rig them and no intention of accepting the results if they lose.
