Join us at 12:30 pm on the West Steps of the State Capitol in Sacramento as we launch the CA State Public Bank (AB 2243) campaign with a press conference and coalition rally. Bill champions Assembly members Matt Haney and Ash Kalra will speak, along with Dr Flo Cofer and five community leaders. Be there! Shaved Ice, community events, song and dance. We will celebrate with performances by multicultural community song/dance groups, homemade shaved ice with organic fruit purées, and more! California is facing budget pressure, a housing crisis, and major infrastructure needs, while billions in public dollars flow to Wall Street banks. AB 2243 starts the process to create a state public bank through a State Bank Commission and Plan. A public bank would work with community lenders to lower borrowing costs and expand financing for housing, climate projects, infrastructure, and small businesses, keeping more public dollars working in California.
