ĠUSTIZZJA GĦAL ARTNA: THE REFORMS WE NEED

Moviment Graffitti

🔴 Did you know that under the current planning system, developers can destroy our natural environments with illegal buildings (even in ODZ!) and later apply to have them sanctioned, giving them a permit for the already built illegalities? In practice, there’s no real limit to how extreme this can get. 🚧 For example, when Joseph Portelli built his illegal monstrosity in Qala (shown in the image), he started building ODZ pools without even submitting an application. They were later sanctioned by the PA. We then appealed this decision and won: the highest court agreed that the development should not go ahead. However, due to the broken appeals law, the structures were already built. ⚠️ Since then, Portelli has again applied to sanction these illegal ODZ developments - evading any possibility of repercussions or justice, and attempting to override the decision of the courts. This is just one of many examples that show how the existing planning laws are deeply unjust. We launched our Ġustizzja għal Artna campaign last year, after the Government proposed sweeping changes to the planning system which they called a “reform”, but which anyone could see was a total power handover to developers. 📣 Now, we are calling on them to give us real reform. On Saturday 11th April at 10:30am we will be holding a press conference outside Castille where we'll present our proposals for the planning reform that the people deserve - ĠUSTIZZJA GĦAL ARTNA: THE REFORMS WE NEED 🟠 Join us 🟠
