This May Day we're rallying in Newark as part of a growing nationwide movement to tax the rich and make polluters pay for the damage they’re inflicting on our climate and communities, stop ICE and unchecked federal power, expand democracy over corporate power, and protect our vote! This rally is part of a week of actions organized by EmpowerNJ and our allies to call on the Legislature and Governor Sherrill to pass the Polluters Pay Act BEFORE they finalize the state budget. The Polluters Pay Act (S2338/A3735) will address our worsening climate and affordability crises by generating $50 billion to help make our New Jersey communities healthier, safer, and more resilient to climate impacts. As we build a groundswell of public support to hold Big Oil accountable, we’ll join in solidarity with our friends, family, and neighbors taking action across the country to demand a nation that puts workers over billionaires, with many refusing business as usual through No School. No Work. No Shopping. Because when Big Oil and billionaires break every rule, it’s going to take more than a rally to stop them.
